Poland: A painful history fades out - 2017
Until 1918 Polish territory has a long history of invasions and partitions carried out by the Russian Empire, the Kingdom of Prussia and the Austrian Habsburg Monarchy.
Then came World War II and the invasion by the Soviet Union and the Nazis, followed by a 40 year Soviet occupation.

Now Poland eventually turns a new page from a painful history towards peace, freedom and self-determination. New architecture, new ideas, come to replace the past which is symbolically reflected in Vistula's river waters, a painful history that eventually fades out.

In my artworks, old Soviet Union buildings like the Joseph Stalin Palace of Culture and what they represent gradually give their place to new buildings and structures as Poland moves on.
